La Vie En Rose Patisserie @ Malay Street, Georgetown, Penang.

While Penang has no shortage of bakeries, it is not easy to find some seriously good french pastries like Croissant but with the opening of La Vie En Rose Patisserie, now we can have easy access to some flaky, buttery Croissant. Established in 2016, the brand's main focus has always been Madeleine (French Butter Cakes) and it is said to be the first Madeleine specialist in Malaysia. The brand recently expanded its business operations by opening a new Patisserie at Malay Street... offering better variety of French pastries and sweet treats. The cafe layout may be a little snug but definitely cozy enough for a casual afternoon tea treat. You'll definitely need to check it out if you appreciate good, flaky, buttery Croissant.

Dark Chocolate-coated Honey Lemon Madeleine (Rm 5)

Pain Au Chocolat (Rm 8)

Vanilla Beignet (Rm 7)

Tiramisu (Rm 16)

The Pain Au Chocolat is one of the must-haves... the pastry will be heated up before serving to your table. It was extremely flaky and easily fall apart at the nudge of the teeth... buttery and crisp.... the combo makes it dangerously addictive. The Chocolate filling was just spot on... not too sweet but good enough to impart a chocolaty touch. Equally delicious was the Vanilla-filled Beignet... something similar like an airy version of Doughnut, filled with luscious, creamy Vanilla cream. It was lightly sweetened and the whole thing felt very light and easy on the palate. Also not to be missed would be of course, the signature Madeleine... we had the Honey Lemon Madeleine, coated with Dark Chocolate... it was slightly denser than what we expected but delicately eggy and buttery. We also had the Tiramisu, one of the few desserts displayed at the display fridge. The concoction was creamy-soft but packed a powerful Coffee punch... delicately sweetened either. All in all, the sweet treats are expertly sweetened and the flavors are spot on; we fell in love with the Pain Au Chocolat and would love to think that it is by far, the best in Penang.
