Viva Victoria @ Victoria Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Fancy a meal with a dash of personality? Make your way to Viva Victoria (at Victoria Street, central Georgetown)- an eclectic, quirky space that offers good drinks and delicious food. It's hard to describe this place- the facade hardly tells about the place but once you are in, you will find yourself in a mysterious place with a shelf of books, eclectic knick-knacks and oddly, a whiff of Indian scents. The menu is equally interesting- cleverly blends in elements from the East and West, with a playful local touch... complemented by an impressive specialty drinks menu. The place has a casual dining atmosphere, which is suitable for casual lunch or to relax and enjoy an evening sip.

Classic Nyonya sauce is used for the Nyonya Sea Bass- with nicely seared Sea Bass served atop of well-spiced, tangy Nyonya sauce. There is also a small serving of White Rice to go with the sauce, to satisfy the Asian in you. Another Asian-Western blend would be Chi Kut Teh... Chicken Roulade served with a thick, herbaceous Bak Kut Teh reduction (Chicken is used as Viva Victoria is a pork-free restaurant)... a somewhat exquisite dish but with an acquired taste.

If Lamb is your thing, the 24 Hour Lamb Shank is quite a charm. the Lamb Shank is meticulously cooked to fork tender, the brown sauce packs a flavorful punch and with the creamy mashed Potatoes; the dish is both a palate-pleaser and a tummy-filler. Meat-free option would include the Cauliflower Steaks, a popular but uncommon vegan dish in Penang. Paprika-seasoned roasted Cauliflower Steaks served with Quinoa and home-made Olive-Tomato condiments. The Cauliflower Steaks have the juicy crunch while the condiments provide a savory but refreshing dimension to the dish. We recommend ending the meal with their classic but delicious Cocktails.
