The global center for banking and finance, Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It has one of the world's most well-connected public transportation and its airport (Zurich International Airport) is the largest in the country and often, the busiest. Being a financial powerhouse, the place is home to many financial experts and a melting pot of cultures. Having said that, the city is also home to many food eateries- whether international cuisine or local Swiss delicacies. If you are like me, whom did not have much time to explore Zurich (only half a day), the below guide will help you a little.
1) Raclette Factory
Address: Rindermarkt 1, 8001, Zurich, Switzerland.
Visiting Hours: 11:30 pm to 10 pm on every Sunday to Wednesday, 11:30 am to 12 am on Thursdays to Saturdays. Opens Daily.
Contact Number: +41 44 261 04 10
No trip to Switzerland is complete without having a share of Raclette and one of the best places for this local Swiss delicacy would be the Raclette Factory... right smack in Zurich city center. The restaurant offers a Raclette-focused menu... with various toppings and condiments available but for the most classic Raclette experience, we'd recommend going for the Raclette with Potatoes and pickles. It has a distinctive cheesy aroma, which can be addictive. Best to wash down with a glass of Beer.
2) Swiss Chuchi
Address: Rosengasse 10, 8001, Zurich, Switzerland.
Visiting Hours: 11:30 am to 11 pm. Opens Daily.
Contact Number: +41 81 420 30 60
If you are a serious foodie like me who wants to tick the bucket list of eating Cheese Fondue in Switzerland, check Swiss Chuchi out. Housed in Hotel Adler in old town of Zurich, this Cheese Fondue specialist is within walking distance from the Raclette Factory (just down the street). The classic Cheese Fondue will come with a basket of Bread... to be dipped in the melted Cheese. It has a pretty strong alcohol taste (result from using White Wine), this portion fits for 2 diners.
3) Movenpick Ice Cream Gallery
Address: Theaterstrasse 8, 8001, Zurich, Switzerland.
Visiting Hours: 12 pm to 10 pm on Sundays to Thursdays, 12 pm to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Contact Number: +41 43 268 04 20
Save some space for dessert... make your way to Movenpick Ice Cream Gallery, a short walk from Lake Zurich. The country's homegrown brand is internationally recognized as one of the best ice cream brands. There are many flavors available in the gallery- ranging from Fruit Juice-based and Milk-based Ice Cream. It's also a wonderful moment to enjoy the icy sweet treat while taking a leisure stroll along Lake Zurich.
