Black Kettle Launches New Food Menu @ Georgetown, Penang.

Having collected regular patrons' feedback on the food offering, Black Kettle has decided to do some minor upgrade to the menu and has since, rolled out its new food menu. Bright and cozy with a good doze of soft furnishing and slight greenery, the cafe is one of the busiest cafes in the heart of Georgetown. With the joining of a new Michelin-trained head Chef, the newly launched food menu sees stronger influences from local flavors. Keeping "mindful eating" in mind, a few healthier additions have also been included in the food menu. In line with that, all sauces and bread are made-in-house by Black Kettle. Need more to celebrate? There is also a bakery counter near the entrance (they do sell bread and pastries for walk-ins) and excellent Coffee.

Many Thanks to Black Kettle for hosting us.

Baby Octopus and Angel Hair Pasta (Rm 30)

Peri-Peri Chicken (Rm 24)

Creamy Mushroom (Rm 18)

Bread and Curry (Rm 22)

Start your meal with a delicious bowl of Creamy Mushroom- a concoction of fresh Shitake, Abalone and Button Mushrooms cooked with Tarragon Butter and Paprika. The creamy dish carries an earthy flavor with buttery-milky fragrance. It has a hint of spiciness due to the addition of Paprika but that would perfectly suit the Malaysian in you. It is to be enjoyed with crisp-toasted Bread. If you would like to have Soup instead, go for their Bread and Curry. Almost like Indian Dhal Curry, Black Kettle's rendition is slightly lighter on the palate but equally well-spiced. It has a mild peppery flavor and to be served with a basket of toasted Bread.

One of the signature mains would be the Baby Octopus and Angel Hair Pasta, a playful yet successful dish that incorporates local Malaysian Sambal to Pasta. The dish sees al-dentely cooked Spaghetti served atop of Coconut and Lemongrass creamy broth; the Seafood broth carries a mild sweetness with creamy texture... good on its own but it becomes more dimensional with the addition of Sambal; a spicy boost to the dish. Daring, unique but definitely delicious. If you have a soft spot for spicy food, their Peri Peri Chicken is worth a look. Perfectly grilled boneless Chicken Thigh served with Black Kettle's Peri Peri sauce can be painful on the lips but sheer enjoyment on the palate; the Peri Peri sauce is more than just condiment... probably the soul and real draw of this dish.
