A short walk from University Science Malaysia (USM) at Sungai Dua, Hui Shang Ying 卉尚颖 is a new comer to the clamoring student neighborhood... right next to the long-established Plus 2 Restaurant (famed for inexpensive but quality Wan Ton Mee). The opening of Hui Shang Ying definitely makes a good contender to Plus 2; not only that both places offer Wan Ton Mee but the target audience is more or less the same as well. But the newly opened Hui Shang Ying has a better edge, due to its new and inviting interior. The fully air-conditioned place resembles decor like a Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng, except that the tables are well-spaced and nicely fitted. On the menu, it offers classic Chinese delights with a small choices of Western dishes... prices are student-friendly though.

The Chinese Glutinous Rice Dumplings seem to the the popular choices here. We had the Nyonya Glutinous Rice Dumpling, a fairly uncommon product in the market these days. The texture was right and the flavor was okay but not to the extent that it was impressive. We thought it was an okay-average one. The Wan Ton Mee was equally alright as well. Though it did not disappoint, it did not give us a very deep impression, just like any Wan Ton Mee we can find elsewhere in Penang. The only advantage of dining here is the cozy dining atmosphere with spacious tables and comfortable seats.
