Pie Harbour @ G Hotel, Penang.

With a name like Pie Harbour, one would expect myriad of Pie-choices in the shop but that is not exactly the case. Arguably the city's most popular Pie Shop, Pie Harbour has a few branches across Penang island. Not only does the Pie specialist offer classic Pies with simple approach, the brand offers a variety of Sandwiches, Pasta and many more. The menu at Pie Harbour is extensive and all items are brilliantly priced. We visited one of their newer branches at G Hotel Penang, the cafe takes a strategic corner spot at the al-fresco zone. Inside, the huge glass allows natural light to pour in and the ambiance is warm and cozy; the place is ideal for a between-meals snack or a place just to stretch your shopping legs.

Concarne Baked Rice (Rm 16.90)

Shoppers seeking for tummy fillers could go for their Concarne Baked Rice- minced and mashed Chicken Meat with Kidney Red Beans (and a hint of Cheese) blanketed over White Rice. The concoction was meaty with a light refreshing Tomato-tinge. To leverage on the complimentary Nachos, you might crack them and enjoy together with the rice... for an extra crispy-crunchy texture, akin to Burrito.

Chicken Slice & Cheese Sandwich Set (Rm 18.90)

Weight watchers will be glad to know that Pie Harbour offers a variety of healthy Sandwiches. Amongst the Sandwiches available, we had their Chicken Slice & Cheese Sandwich- generous amount of Chicken Ham and slivers of Cheddar coupled with crunchy greens being sandwiched between two crunchy Focaccia. Lightly toasted Focaccia, savory Chicken Ham and fresh Salad, the Sandwich has all the essential ingredients needed. The Italian bread was resilient enough to hold the extra moisture from the smooth Mayonnaise yet still soft enough to hold the ingredients together and it did splotched out of the sides as soon as we bit onto it. The Chicken Ham veers towards the salty side so it is best recommended to wash down with a serving of their Fruit Juice (the set comes with a Cookie and Fruit Juice).

Sydney Breakie Wrap (Rm 12.90)

Steak & Cheese Pie (Rm 11.90)

No trip is complete without a Pie at Pie Harbour, the Pie specialist. We love the buttery aroma and the flakiness of the Steak & Cheese Pie, but the filling was a little salty to our liking. It was perfectly to enjoy with the crunch of greens nevertheless.

If Focaccia is too bready to your liking, go for their Wrap. The Sydney Breakie consists of the quintessential breakfast items- Egg, Cheese and Ham (as well as greens as Mayonnaise); well-inflected in the form of wrap. It was light to go as a post-meal snack or as substantial as a meal on its own.
