Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog @ 1st Avenue Mall, Penang.

** This kiosk has ceased its operation since then.**

If you happen to pondering what to eat during tea time or supper while/after having shopping at 1st Avenue Mall, Penang, you might want to pay a little attention this blog post. I was having my window shopping at the mall as well, and I had accidentally bumped into this stall, which they were having their opening promotion, where by if you happen to buy ONE product (be it hot dog or any drinks) from them, you are entitled to buy the second item at half price (50% off; valid until 29th of February 2012). Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog is a kiosk opening at the Lower Ground floor of 1st Avenue Mall, exactly opposite to "It's Yoogurt" or you can find this kiosk outside/nearby of "Kim Gary restaurant". "Natural" serves some refreshing and rejuvenating natural tea, which includes some special brew, fruit tea, yogurt fruit tea etc...Some of the unique ones are Roselle Tea, Earl Grey Tea, Lavender Tea which can be rarely seen in Penang. Additionally, one must not miss their Hot Dog, it comes in Two types of meat, be it the chicken or beef. Other than that, there will be Five flavors to choose upon for the Hot Dog as well, namely Chicago Dog, Onion Dog, Cheesy Dog, New York Dog and Terimayo (Teriyaki and Mayonnaise) Dog.

Cheesy Dog- Chicken/Small (Rm5.90 for small, Rm7.90 for large). The Hot Dog was steamed to maintain a warm temperature and topped with a layer of cheese. Some barbecue sauce was squeezed on top of the cheese. The semi-melted cheese complemented well with the Hot Dog. The chewy texture of the Hot Dog makes it very good and the smoky flavor was just nice either. Not to forget to mention that the bun was steamed before serving as well. Everything was well-kept at warm temperature. Cheese lovers definitely do not want to miss this.

Chicago Dog- Beef/Large (Rm5.90 for small, Rm7.90 for large). The sizes differ in terms of the size of the Hot Dog, not in terms of the bun. So the Hot Dog was actually pretty big in size although the small one will be good enough for me. Some pickled cucumber were added onto the Hot Dog and topped with some yellow mustard/tomato ketchup with a hint of black pepper. However, the yellow mustard and tomato ketchup were a bit disappointing in my opinion. The overwhelming sourness ruined the overall taste, could be brand problem or over-use of mustard/ketchup. It would be better if they can slightly reduce the use of mustard/ketchup by a bit. The overall taste was still good, particularly in the texture of the Hot Dog, impressive.

Onion Dog- Chicken/Small (Rm5.90 for small, Rm7.90 for large). Similarly to Chicago Dog, Onion Dog uses onions and fresh tomatoes instead of pickled cucumbers, and the sauce was to go with the Hot Dog was yellow mustard. Surprisingly the overall flavor was okay, at least not as sour as Chicago Dog, could be due to the lacking of tomato ketchup here. Anyway, the crunchiness and natural sweetness from the onions complemented well with the Hot Dog.

Jasmine Green Tea (700cc, Rm3.50) was refreshing and rejuvenating enough, with such price and portion, it was definitely cheap, moreover, you can always ask for the sugar level you wish to maintain at too, just like any other dessert/drinks outlets. I opted for the less-sugar version and I must say, it was good, the green tea flavor was still strong even though the ice has melted (amount of ice given was not too much) and most importantly, it suits those that are concerning/watching their diet the most.
