A Pie Thing @ Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Having pies as main course is not really the common practice here in Malaysia but not quite the case here in 'A Pie Thing'. The pie specialist at Petaling Jaya offers a great variety of both savory and sweet pies. Established few years ago, the brand has been known as the place to go to when it comes to pies. You will not find traditional Pie flavors here but instead, an array of creative Malaysian favorites... can be as good as snacks (for sharing) or as satisfying as a meal. For pie lovers, A Pie Thing is definitely the Pie Mecca that you would not want to miss.

Chicken Masala Pie (The Mashacre/ Rm 17.90- Pie topped with mashed Potatoes, Sweet Peas and Gravy)

Light Lemon Mascarpone Cheese (Rm 15)

The Mashacre version consists of mashed Potatoes, Sweet Peas and laden with smooth, luscious gravy. The choice of our Pie was Chicken Masala... carefully cooked and seasoned Chicken Masala filling encased in a flaky, buttery pastry skin. We were worried if the combination would turn out to be overly salty but to our surprise, it was well-seasoned on the dot. We thought it was very filling but had to leave some space for their sweet varieties. The slightly zesty Light Lemon Mascarpone Cheese was a perfect end. It has the creamy-factor but beautifully counter-balanced by the acidity. Good for sharing but might be a little monotonous for one to finish entirely.

  1. Haven't had pies for ages, especially now that we are going gluten-free most of the time.
