Ri Cafe @ Bahari Parade, Georgetown, Penang.

One of the latest additions to Bahari Parade is Ri Cafe, it did take us a while to figure out the name of the cafe but we later found out that it is somehow associated with the first name of the owner. Situated at the corner lot of Bahari Parade, Ri Cafe offers adventurous eaters a playful but well-thought of local-fusion cuisine... dishes are wonderfully paired with both eastern and western elements; the menu is small but the surprise-factor is big. The cafe has a homey and relaxed atmosphere, it is definitely worth checking out if you are in the vicinity.

Flashback (Rm 26.90)

Winning Man (Rm 29.90)

A Bolognese-inflected dish with Japanese Udon replacing Spaghetti, the Flashback was delicate and addictive. The marination for the minced Beef was spot on, with a slight tinge of acidity from the Sour Mustard and indelible spicines as well as a touch of Parmesan Cheese.. The texture was alright, though not as al-dente as we would have hoped but we could bear with it. It was good but not too sure if the portion could justify the price tag.

We were happy with Flashback but Winning Man was equally good as well. The Fried Chicken was deep fried till perfection and served with a bowl of Pineapple Salsa as well as some Curry Laksa Sambal. But the combination was unique and somewhat adventurous. The refreshing tangy Pineapple Salsa pierced through the greasiness of the Chicken and introduced another layer of tropical flavor to the dish. The Curry Laksa Sambal was elusive and did not leave a very deep impression but the Fried Chicken was nicely done- crispy on the outside and succulent-tender inside. But again, we are uncertain if we would want to pay Rm 29.90 for a Chicken Thigh again.
