De Pauh Garden @ Permatang Pauh, Seberang Perai, Penang.

Built on a 1.2 hectare of land, De Pauh Garden is undeniably one of the largest restaurants in Penang; the name has earned its reputation since its opening at 2012. It is well known for its myriad of offering that includes local Malay food, Western food, Thai food with a few types of Indonesian cuisine. The huge space in De Pauh Garden is suitable to be used for occasions and events; the restaurant has hosted wedding dinners as well as other celebrations that could fit a maximum capacity of 550 diners at the same time. It does catering as well and has been offering their services to bodies like MPSP and UiTM Penang. Some of their signature dishes are Indonesian Nasi Campur, Curry Fish Head, Satay etc; all are priced reasonably and not grueling to the wallet. If you are stopping by for their lunch, you can sample divine Indonesian favorites and an array of the regulars' favorites in their Nasi Campur fare .The Indonesian-influenced Nasi Campur is available daily from 10:30 am to 3 pm, while the ala-carte menu is available from 3 pm onward and full menu will be available throughout dinner.

Curry Fish Head (Rm 35/ small)

Kerabu Sotong (Rm 7.90)

De Pauh Garden is practically an institution for curries, their signature Fish Head Curry is some of the best curries on offer (by the restaurant). The Curry has the perfect consistency- not too rich and thick nor it was too diluted and watery. The flavors were bold and the spiciness was well-balanced while the flesh of the fish was surprisingly firm- a testament of the freshness of the fish and the expertly controlled cooking time. The Fish Head Curry is best to serve over rice.

A respite from the creamy-spicy curry concoction, we had a tangy dish- Kerabu Sotong to spice things up. We were deeply impressed by the dish, a generous amount of torched Ginger, Coriander, Onions were used to spice the dish. The dressing on the other hand, was addictive. It possessed the quintessential sourness, spiciness with a mild touch of sweetness. With that dish, the meal was complete.

Spicy Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce (Rm 15.90)

The Malaysian's Burger- Spicy Chicken Chop heavily doused with Black Pepper Sauce can be found here at De Pauh Garden. The deep fried Chicken was nicely done- crispy outer layer with juicy flesh; served with peppery sauce and creamy Mayonnaise. Eat it fast lest the bread turns into a soggy, mushy dough. As for the Fries, do consider trying to dip them into Lady's Choice's Thousand Island sauce or Mayonnaise, a respite from the usual Tomato or Chili sauce.

Apple Juice with Asamboi (Rm 4)
