Bai Wei Xian 百味鲜沙县小吃 @ Jalan Slim, Jelutong, Penang.

A new addition to Jelutong’s dining scene—Bai Wei Xian 百味鲜沙县小吃 is a humble Chinese eatery that specializes in Shaxian county’s delicacies, with a focus on dumplings and noodles. While the menu may not be the most extensive, it offers just enough variety for a satisfying, casual meal. The real charm lies in its unbeatable prices, with a plate of noodles starting from as low as RM5. The restaurant is clean, brightly lit, and comfortably spaced, though parking around the area can be a bit tricky.

Scallion Oil Noodles with Pickled Vegetables 葱油拌面加酸菜 (Rm 5)

Duck Soup Noodles 鸭肉汤面 (Rm 13)

Wan Ton Soup 馄饨汤 (Rm 9)

Steamed Dumplings 蒸饺 (Rm 8 for 6 pcs)

The dumplings- both Wan Ton and Jiaozi are quite similar to what we have here locally. But if we must choose, we prefer the Steamed Dumplings more- the dumpling skin had a good texture and it worked very well with the Chili flakes and black vinegar combo. On the noodles- we had both Scallion Oil Noodles and the one with Chinese pickled Mustard (Suancai). No big difference if you ask me, but the noodles were decent and reasonably flavored. Not complaining for RM5.
