Housed in a restored Indo-Malay bungalow along Hutton Lane, The FOUNDERS Hutton offers a calm and inviting space for casual dining. The interior features a clean and modern design, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The place has been gaining popularity among locals for its laid-back atmosphere and versatile menu, which consists of a mix of Western and Asian-inspired dishes. Prices are reasonable, and the offerings are pork-free, making it suitable for Muslim diners. On weekends and public holidays, live band performances are held in the evening, adding a little extra to the overall dining experience.
We did not know that the kitchen closes until 6PM for dinner service and we were there sometime after 5PM. We had to settle with their Scone with Yam Paste and Matcha Almond Cinnamon Roll. The former one had a crumbly texture with a creamy-smooth Yam paste and savory Butter. The combo worked. Save for the unusual texture of the Scone which was a little biscuity, the flavor combo was lovely. The Matcha Almond Cinnamon Roll was a creative one but a tad too sweet to my liking, and the Cinnamon Roll felt a little dry on the edges.
On the mains- we had the Piri Piri Fried Chicken (which is one of their best sellers) and Aussie Beef Bagel. The former one was served with some Yogurt sauce; the Fried Chicken had a flaky texture on the outside. Visually-appealing but the flavor-combo did not quite hit us, not something that we would remember. Also, the Corn was awfully dry. The Beef Bagel fared way better than the Fried Chicken. The patty was nicely seasoned and cooked- paired with caramelized Onions, Cheese and some fresh vegetables... the classic combo that will never go out of fashion. On top of that, the mixed Fries added some marks too, love the Sweet Potato Fries.
