Korean Banchan
We were pleasantly surprised with the Banchan choices, we were served a total of 9 Korean side dishes- from the usual Kimchi, Seaweed, Salad to Spring Onion Kimchi, Korean Fish Cake etc. We could feel their sincerity in serving these small side dishes! All of them were deliciously made. We hear many positive comments on their Seafood Pancake so we decided to give it a try. True enough, it was jaw-droppingly good! Unlike the usual ones which are usually soggy or over-battered, Horangi's came in a crispy state. It has a handful of fresh vegetables like Onions, Carrots, Spring Onions and Okra... with minimal amount of flour... just good enough to glue the vegetables together. It did not feel very floury at all and the Pancake was well-seasoned. Hands down one of the best that I've ever had. The Korean Cold Buckwheat Noodle is one of their signature dishes too. The moment I saw the Ice cubes floating around the noodles, I knew this will be an amazing one. The broth was super refreshing and served chilled... topped with some julienned Apples, Pear and Cucumber, finished with a halved hard boiled Egg. A pity that the noodles were not as chewy as we would have hoped but given that they did everything else right, we thought it was a good Naengmyeon. For the Sot Rice Set, we had the Octopus version which came with a serving of Soft Tofu Stew. No seasoning but a separate sauce was served- with a bold Sesame aroma. Not too shabby either.
