Mojojojo @ Lyf Hotel Georgetown, Penang.

Housed in the newly opened Lyf Hotel Georgetown by the Ascott Limited (right across the street from Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang), Mojojojo is a restaurant worth keeping on your radar. To find Mojojojo, you can either enter from the side door via Farquhar Street or enter from the lobby of Lyf Hotel Georgetown (walk until one end of the hotel lobby). The kitchen opens for 2 slots- the Brunch and Dinner; different menus will be served. The brunch menu features dishes with innovative twist (not the usual Big Breakfast, Egg Ben that you will find). While the prices are on the higher end, the flavors and presentation justify the costs.

Duck Milanese, Mash, Soft Egg, House Gravy (Rm 42)

Snapper Crudo Flatbread, Dill Creme, Pickled Lemon (Rm 36)

Tea Granita, Mulberries, Honey Jelly and Yogurt Foam (Rm 28)

We started off with the Snapper Crudo Flatbread- fresh, soft Flatbread spread with Dill Creme and topped with Snapper Crudo with a touch of Pickled Lemon. Though the Flatbread felt a little dense, the Dill Creme was delicious and packed with a refreshing herbaceous aroma. The Pickled Lemon was a winning recipe- not only for the aroma or acidity but it has a sleek sweet-kiss to it. The whole dish felt well-balanced and we must say we enjoyed it very much. The same for the Duck Milanese; unlike the classic Milanese where they serve whole piece of meat. Mojojojo serves the Duck Milanese almost like a Crab Cake, we believe the Duck was probably braised and molded into a form of cake before deep frying it. The meat was shredded but tender and seasoned. It worked super well with the concoction of Mash, House Gravy and of course, the flowing Soft Egg.

For dessert- we had the Tea Granita with fresh Mulberries, Honey Jelly, Yogurt Foam and topped with a refreshing touch of Lime zest... another well-balanced treat. The Tea Granita registered a mild Tea flavor or probably overshadowed by the Yogurt Foam but the Yogurt Foam possessed a silky smooth texture. It did not have the sharp acidity nor sweetness as well. The Honey Jelly was not overly sweet, probably more to giving the dish a good texture. Likewise for the Mulberries- for the juicy bite and a hint of berry-acidity. A healthy and lip-smacking treat.
