Man Shan Bak Kut Teh 滿膳食馆 has been around for quite some time, the Bak Kut Teh specialist has bagged some awards and has been featured on some national TV program. It has also garnered an appreciate following over the years. Situated at Perak Road (opposite to Padang Brown), Man Shan stands out especially in the evening with its bright-yellow facade. The restaurant offers more than just Bak Kut Teh, there's also some Chinese delights... making it suitable as a family eat-out option. Don't expect a budget meal here but you get the cozy-comfortable air-conditioned environment and a handful of Chinese options on top of the signature Bak Kut Teh.
The main character- Bak Kut Teh, possessed a softer, milder herbaceous flavor than expected. We were slightly underwhelmed (definitely it was our preference). There were 3 sizes- small, medium and large. We had the medium one and it fits for the 4 of us, with extra side dishes of course. The Fried Chicken with Yuzu Sauce was an interesting one, almost like the Citrus Chicken that you can find in any Zhu Char places but Man Shan's rendition proved success. We also enjoyed the appetizers- the Pineapple and vinegared Black Fungus, we thought they offered a refreshing touch to the meal. We did not enjoy everything unfortunately (due to personal preference) but we did agree that the restaurant offers a good, cozy space to dine in.
Taste: 7/10 (1-3 bad, 4-7 average, 8-10 good)
