Probably the first restaurant in Penang to introduce Yun Nan delights- Dian Fu Yunnan 滇FU云南 is the latest addition to Anson Cube at Anson Road. The menu features some Yun Nan-inspired dishes along with some China Chinese delights. Some worth-mentioning items include the Yun Nan Cross-Bridge Vermicelli Noodles, Wild Mushroom Soup etc. Items are reasonably priced, for those who seek for comforting, delicious Yun Nan food should check this place out.
The signature Cross-Bridge Vermicelli Noodle was good- with plenty of ingredients and the Vermicelli Noodles had a silky smooth texture. We also enjoyed the soup... hearty, well-seasoned and scorching hot. Not to say something very unique but definitely hearty enough for any Malaysian Chinese to appreciate. The Fried Fish Tomato Soup Hot Pot was okay, not to say outstanding but it did not disappoint either. There were plenty of ingredients like Fried Fish, Mushrooms, Ham, Potatoes etc. We ended the meal with Paoluda- a Coconut Milk concoction with Sago and toasted Bread... a little unusual but the flavor combo was as straight-forward as it seemed.
Taste: 7/10 (1-3 bad, 4-7 average, 8-10 good)
