Siam Poh Boat Noodle is probably one of the few Thai restaurants in town that serves authentic Thai Boat Noodles. What sets them apart is their rich, flavorful broth... made unique by the inclusion of pig blood which gives the soul to the dish. This Thai restaurant at Sri Bahari Road offers a great Thai street food menu- with a good variety of delicacies and light meals. Other than the Boat Noodles, expect to find Som Tam, Mama Mee Seafood or even Yen Ta Fu (Thai Fermented Noodles) on the menu! Their specialties also include dishes from Isan (a region in Thai near to the Laos and Cambodia borders). A place not to be missed by Thai food lovers.
Many Thanks to Siam Poh Boat Noodle for hosting us.
Siam Poh Boat Noodle offers 4 types of noodle choices- Thai Boat Noodle, Clear Soup, Isan Spicy Soup and Dry Noodle. Each has its own uniqueness; personally- we prefer the Thai Boat Noodle. Having tasted the authentic ones from Bangkok, I can vouch that the ones served in Siam Poh Boat Noodle are of authentic qualities and resemble the taste from Thai. The addition of Pig Blood surely makes the difference- it gives the broth a thicker, richer texture. The various types of Salad did not disappoint too. The Som Tam was expertly seasoned and served with a generous portion. A rare find in Penang- Yen Ta Fu Noodles; a type of pink fermented Thai noodle which has a sharp, tangy Chinese fermented beancurd-like flavor. Siam Poh Boat Noodle's rendition takes the flavor to the next step- amazingly bold and hearty, those with an acquired tastebuds should definitely try it out. Other specialties include the Isan Sausages, Fried Pork Belly and Pork Skin (to go with the Boat Noodle).
