Ho Kee Pau and Noodle House 禾记手工面点餐厅 @ Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang.

A new addition to the Raja Uda food scene is Ho Kee Pau and Noodle House 禾记手工面点餐厅, a Chinese restaurant offering China-Chinese menu. Expect to find familiar dishes like Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao, Dumplings, Scallion Oil Noodles etc. Items are reasonably priced with plenty of options available, the place is also comfortably equipped with air-conditioners... but there are plenty of rooms for improvements as far as food quality is concerned...

Shanghai Soup Dumplings (Rm 9.80)

Fried Dumplings (Rm 5.90)

Scallion Oil Noodles (Rm 8.90)

Sze Chuan Braised Beef Noodles (Rm 13.90)

We started off with the Dumplings... both the Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao and Fried Dumplings; the former one carried a Pork stench which we were not really fond of. The Dumpling skin was overly soft, we struggled to finish them. The Fried Dumplings were slightly better, more like usual Meat Bao with a greasy skin... no, no soup/liquid in the filling. The Noodles were nothing out of the ordinary, the Scallion factor was weak as though we were having noodles dressed in normal Soy sauce. The Braised Beef Noodles were okay though, not to say top notch but pretty average without any issue.
