A short walk from Pavilion Bukit Bintang- Tamarind Hill sits on a slope along Jalan Sultan Ismail (Bukit Bintang). The Michelin-selected restaurant has been there since 1999 and known for its Thai-Burmese cuisine. It takes a bit of effort to traipse the stairs to the entrance as the restaurant is hidden in the lush greens. Step in the place and you will welcomed by the calm, tranquility of the restaurant. There is also a garden at the back of the restaurant. Seats are well-spaced to ensure guests have the comfortable dining experience. For this visit- we had the opportunity to try their 3-Course Executive Set Lunch (Rm 45/ pax) which is only available on weekdays.

The 3-Course Executive Set Lunch has fixed Appetizer and Dessert but diners are to choose one out of the 5 main options. The Appetizer Platter consists of 3 starters: Thai Fish Cakes with Sweet Vinegar Sauce, Green Mango Salad and Mixed Fruit Fresh Roll with Peanut Sauce. The Green Mango was at its perfect ripeness- crunchy and acidic, but the dish was not as spicy as we would have hoped. For mains, we enjoyed the Mixed Seafood Green Curry a lot. The Green Curry sauce was packed with flavors- dominantly the Coconut Cream and the herbaceous aroma; worked perfectly well with the Jasmine Rice. The Shrimp Paste Fried Rice was very good too- it has the right amount of Shrimp Paste and the dish was cleverly served with various condiments like Dried Shrimp, Shallots, Chilies. You just can't go wrong with all these together... for the essential Thai flavors. The Chicken Pad Thai was less-satisfactory, the presence of Tomato Sauce overpowered the dish and was a little monotonous towards the end. Meal-ender was the quintessential Thai dessert- Mango Sticky Rice with a serving of Coconut Jelly. Pretty standard but we were expecting more- like crispy Mung Beans or creamier Coconut Cream etc but not complaining. The Executive Set Lunch comes with a serving of Coffee or Tea to go with the dessert.
