Five Grain Bee Hoon 五谷鱼粉 @ Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang.

For those who enjoy a slurplicious, heart-warming bowl of Fish Noodles, make your way to Five Grain Bee Hoon 五谷鱼粉 at Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth. Unlike local Fish Noodles, Five Grain is a China Chinese-influenced brand. The menu is straight-forward and limited, only offering Fish Noodles... but in various broth. Diners get to choose between the classic flavors or with China pickled Mustard or Ma-La broth. The place is air-conditioned and offers a comfortable space for a quick fix. Not shabby if you are looking for a casual place for a simple, hearty meal.

Original Soup Noodles 原味浓汤粉 (Rm 18)

Traditional Hot and Sour Noodles 老味酸辣粉 (Rm 20)

As the name suggested, Five Grain uses Five Grain Noodles as its signature noodles. The noodles are made of 5 different types of grains and hence, the name- Five Grain. The noodles come in different color but they are all commonly smooth with a bite. The Noodles are the same for all types of broth. We had the Original Soup Noodles, which we thought it will be something suitable for all age range. It has the creamy touch with a sleek Umami fish sweetness. They were generous with the fish which we thought they fresh and offered a good bite. We also had another spicier version which was the Traditional Hot and Sour Noodles. Some Chinese pickled Mustard was added, it has the right amount of spiciness and acidity, making it extremely addictive. Definitely a place worth checking out.
