Yolk Cafe @ Weld Quay, Georgetown, Penang.

For a new and affordable brunch spot in the heart of Georgetown, keep an eye out for Yolk Cafe... right next to Royale Chulan Hotel at Weld Quay. The new brunch spot offers a good brunch list- from the usual Egg-dishes to more filling options like Pasta and Burgers... Yolk Cafe has a small dessert list too. There are some hits and misses but the place is very new so they are still improving and fine-tuning their menu. The place has good, cozy dining atmosphere... most suitable for casual meals or small gatherings. On a side note, Yolk Cafe is a pet-friendly cafe so you'll get to enjoy brunch with your lovely pets.

We started off with the Yuzu Eggs Benne- classic, runny Egg Benedict served with Yuzu-infused Hollandaise sauce. The Hollandaise sauce did carry a faint Yuzu aroma but not overly strong, we were underwhelmed with the absence of Smoked Salmon/ Bacon here. The Toasts were a little overly toasted but we were happy with the runny poached Egg. We like the al-dente texture of the Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle but we thought something was missing... probably the earthy flavor did not stand out as much we would have hoped (maybe extra drizzles of Truffle Oil and sprinkles of Cheese shall do the magic). Something creative for the sweet treat- introducing custardy Creme Brulee to French Toast. The contrast in texture was fun- creamy, sweet custard with caramelized top encased in a soft, pillowy Toast. It would be better if they could serve something refreshing to cut through the sweetness. Good attempt nevertheless.
