OoriDoori @ Gurney Walk, Penang.

OoriDoori is a well-known Korean restaurant that has been around since 2021 and has continued to expand and steadily to attract a loyal clientele over the past 2 years. The latest expansion plan at Gurney Walk allows those in the neighborhood to experience the essence of South Korean comfort dishes. OoriDoori has also rolled out its newly revamped menu, featuring more than 70 South Korean delights. The restaurant is manned by a South Korean family which ensures all the ingredients, flavors are according to the South Korean standards. This modern Korean restaurant is both elegant and cozy, most suitable for casual meet ups, gatherings or even quick fix.

Many Thanks to OoriDoori for hosting us.

Jok Bal (Rm 35/ small)

Tteokbokki (Rm 25)

Kimchi Jigae (Rm 29/ with Rice)

Haemul Pajeon (Rm 29)

Chicken Kimbap (Rm 18)

Complimentary Ban Chan

Sikhe (Rm 6) and Grape Juice (Rm 6)

The timeless South Korean street food combo- Kimbap and Tteokbokki is a good combo for group sharing. The Tteokbokki is as legit as it gets- addictively chewy with good consistency sauce that clings to the rice cake perfectly. The Kimbap is straight-forward but beautifully done. Diners will have the options to choose between Bulgogi, Chicken, Tuna, Crab or purely Vegetables. Also not to be missed will be the Haemul Pajeon- crisply fried on the edges with generous amount of Seafood. Good on its own but even better with the Pajeon dip. Meat lovers will be glad to learn that OoriDoori is now offering smaller portion of Jok Bal (braised Pork Trotter). The Jok Bal was only available in one whole portion but now, the restaurant is able to offer smaller portions for diners to share. To complete your Korean dining experience, try their Kimchi Jigae too. Unlike some watered out, diluted version, OoriDoori's packs a powerful flavor punch- spicy, sweet, sour and savory with lots of Pork added to the Jigae for a deeper flavor. They do not skimp on Ban Chan either, you will notice the difference- while some restaurants use ersatz substitutions like Sausage and julienned Potatoes; OoriDoori still churns out Egg Rolls, braised Black Beans etc.
