Wild Pink Fish @ Gurney Walk, Penang.

Not to be confused with the Wild Pink Fish in New World Park, the outlet at Gurney Walk Penang offers a very different menu. The outlet at Gurney Walk Penang dishes out quality and affordable Japanese dishes, their Sushi is known for its value for money and undeniably popular amongst the white-collar workers. Dine-in guests would be glad to know that Wild Pink Fish offers a casual environment with "Sushi Bar-like" seating. The menu is a little limited but for diners who wish for a special menu, it can be arranged accordingly. With a special request, an "Izakaya-style" dinner menu featuring A5 Wagyu, Toro Sashimi etc can be customized depending on the budget (min of 3 pax is required). For the special dinner menu, diners can bring their own alcohol beverages with no extra corkage fee. Wild Pink Fish at Gurney Walk can be found on Ground Floor, right next to CUEVA; visitors can park their car at the multi-storey car park or the underground car park, with entrance from Ascott Gurney Hotel.

Fish Skin Mango Salad (Rm 16)

Assorted Sashimi Chirashi Don (Rm 22)

Diners can look forward to a refreshingly light start with the Fish Skin Mango Salad with crispy, crackling Fish Skin served with a bed of fresh Greens (Lettuce, Cucumber, julienned Carrots, Cherry Tomatoes etc) as well as juicy Mango. The dressings are either Japanese Wafu dressing or Japanese Sesame dressing. Wild Pink Fish's best seller is the WPF Special Unagi Roll, which apparently, is also their signature dish. The dish sees thickly cut Unagi being lightly torched before serving on condiment-packed Sushi Roll, dressed with a thick, sweet Japanese sauce and a dollop of Mentai Sauce (with some Tobiko). The real draw here is the slightly burnt aroma which lingers on the palate, it works so well with Unagi and the savory Mentai sauce. As for those who adore the Mentai sauce, try their Mentai Sushi series. For something classic and solid, we recommend trying the Assorted Sashimi Chirashi Don- a generous mix of scrumptious Seafood cubes (Salmon Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi, Octopus, Hotate, Tamago-yaki, Crab-stick, Japanese Bean Curd and fresh Cucumber) served atop of warm, expertly cooked Japanese Rice. The accompanying sauce is a good mix of Japanese Soy Sauce and Japanese Sweet Sauce. A very filling and tummy-satisfying dish for a mere RM22.
