Lhong Tou Dim Sum 龍頭點心 @ Pulau Tikus, Penang.

A stone's throw distance away from the Pulau Tikus morning market, the newly opened Dim Sum joint Lhong Tou Dim Sum 龍頭點心 is suitable for those who seek for quality Dim Sum dishes yet willing to pay a little more for the premium quality. What differentiates this place from its competitors is the made-to-order Dim Sum dishes, the menu features pretty much the standard Malaysian Dim Sum fare with a few Noodle/Rice dishes. The place is comfortable (air-conditioned) and the service is attentive; despite the above-average price points, the place is still a good option for a weekend family meal.

HK Style Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun 大青虾港式肠粉 (Rm 14.90)

Prawn Century Egg Porridge 皮蛋虾粥 (Rm 16.80)

Not all items were available during our visit (they were still in soft-launch stage), especially the noodle/ rice dishes. A quintessential order- Har Kaw or Prawn Dumplings; Lhong Tou's rendition was a little different. Each dumpling consists of 2 med-sized Prawns, wrapped with thin-chewy dumpling skin and topped with Tobiko. The seasoning for the filling was spot on, no additional dipping sauce required. The seafood sweetness spoke for itself. Equally delicious was the HK Style Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun, with every single piece of the Chee Cheong Fun consisting a huge Prawn, literally more like a Prawn dish than a Chee Cheong Fun dish. Not that the Prawn Century Egg Porridge was bad but we thought it was a misnomer. There was no Prawn in the Porridge, merely some Pork slices. Texture and seasoning wise, it was expertly done though.
