Thai food lovers would be excited to know that there is a new Thai restaurant in town- Thara. From its Facebook Page, it seems like its associated with ThongLor Thai... which was previously located at Icon City, Bukit Mertajam. The new venture- Thara, offers a wide range of Thai delights that are not new to Malaysians... from the commonly seen Thai Salad to Tom Yum, Kheng Som or various Thai stir fries. The prices are on the higher side considering the small serving portion but they offer quality in return. Comfortable space with authentic, delicious Thai food if you don't mind to pay a little more. The newly opened Thara can be found at Lorong Prangin, a few doors away from Ichi Tong.

We literally enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered. The one that let us with the deepest impression was the deceptively simple dish- Melindjo Leaves, a popular Southern Thai dish often cooked with Eggs and Glass Noodles. The natural sweetness of the leaves was beyond amazing and it worked so well with Egg. The Glass Noodles added a bit of texture and there was a surprise factor- the addition of Pickled Pearl Onions. We just could not get enough of this dish. The Cha-Om and Red Curry Chicken were equally great; both dishes were expertly seasoned with great depth of flavors. The signature White Tom Yum Seafood Soup was not shabby either; it ticked all the boxes with rich and bold flavors. The Kheng Som was probably our least favorite, a certain flavor (something like Sour Plum) was too overwhelming and we did not quite like it. Also, we thought the portion was too small for that price tag. Not featured on this blog post, one must try their Sambal Belacan which is a bomb... dangerously addictive but works well with almost every dish (white rice too of course).
