The Fishing Village 小鱼村 @ Lebuh McNair, Georgetown, Penang.

Conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown, The Fishing Village 小鱼村 is one of the latest Thai food additions to the Penang food scene. The newly opened restaurant has a small Thai menu, featuring their signature Tom Yum series (Red Tom Yum, White Tom Yum and Tom Yum with Coconut Milk) as well as Thai Braised Pork Trotter Rice. Choices are quite limited with slightly above average price points but fortunately, they commensurate with generous serving portion. Quality-wise, we thought the Tom Yums were great so if you don't mind paying a little more for quality Tom Yum Noodles, give this place a try.

White Tom Yum- Clams (Rm 16.90)

Tom Kha- Barramundi Fish (Rm 19.90)

Kha Kha Mu- Thai Braised Pork Trotter Rice (Rm 19.90)

Iced Lemon Tea (Rm 6.90)

Both White Tom Yum and Tom Kha were unique in its own way- the former one had a sharper acidity but it was well-balanced by the sweetness from the crustacean. They were also very generous with the fresh herbs so the aroma and flavor was bold. Tom Kha was something different, the Coconut Milk added a sleek creaminess to the soup. Both were delicious. Kha Kha Mu on the other hand, was a little disappointingly average. Probably we are not a big fan of Pork Trotter, we thought the Tom Yum shined better.
