Rossi ItaLian @ Hotel Penaga, Georgetown, Penang.

Housed in Hotel Penaga, Rossi ItaLian is one of the latest spots in town for some decent Italian food. The Italian restaurant is found inside the hotel, menu is fairly small but offers most of the Italian classics like Pasta, Pizza, Anti Pasti and even desserts. Some hard core meat fans would notice the missing of some Italian Charcuterie board but the place serves no pork and alcohol, making it Muslim-friendly. The price points are of average range but the place is comfortable with cozy setting, a place worth-going if you are game for Italian food.

Margherita Pizza (Rm 22)

Pappardelle Ragu (Rm 36)

Bruschetta (Rm 16)

Appetizer was Bruschetta... fresh Cherry Tomatoes tossed with fresh Basil served on crisp-airy, addictive Ciabatta-like toast, the seasoning was spot on and the flavor combo was lovely. We could not leave an Italian restaurant without trying their Pizza. We had the most classic Margherita Pizza... which was served piping hot. The Pizza was nicely grilled and the crust was beautifully done. A pity that we thought they could be more generous with the Cheese and perhaps, the Tomato base as well. In addition to the Pizza, we also had Pappardelle Ragu... a rather uncommon Pasta dish. We enjoyed the Pasta dish and thought the Ragu sauce was expertly cooked with thick and rich consistency; the pairing with Pappardelle was brilliant as well. As much as we enjoyed the dish, we were slapped with a rather hefty price tag of Rm 36.
