The spot previously occupied by REVE Kitchen and Dessert Bar at King Street (right next to Public Bank Penang Main Branch) is now taken up by Cuisine 18, a new restaurant offering a French-inspired menu. There are only minimal changes to the interior but the addition of curtains that block the sunlight from flowing in does introduce a romantic touch to the place. The menu offering is not too big but sufficiently covers all range of diners (from Fish to Chicken and Red Meat), the price points are of mid-average but the Course menu offers better values. A pretty decent restaurant for some solid French-inspired dishes without putting a dent on the wallet.
[Brunch Menu] Egg Benedict (Rm 24)
[Brunch Menu] Poulet Roti (Rm 26)
[Brunch Menu] Seafood Anchovies Pasta (Rm 32)
The Brunch Menu is available daily until 2 pm, it offers a few choices priced from Rm 24 with a complimentary serving of Soup of the Day and Dessert. We started our brunch with their Onion Soup, which was the Soup of the Day. The Soup was beautifully cooked with the right seasoning and sweet-tasting Onion flavor, best of all, it was served to us piping hot with a piece of Cheese toast. Contented with the Soup, the mains were not disappointing. The Egg Benedict was carefully cooked with a great consistency- the Eggs were perfectly poached but the Hollandaise sauce could carry bolder flavor. The Seafood Anchovies Pasta was good either, there was a distinctive Seafood sweetness in the dish and the Spaghetti was al-dentely cooked; can't say the Anchovy flavor was bold but it was overall, a delicious dish. The Poulet Roti (French Roast Chicken) was less-satisfying though, it was nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, we thought it was pretty good value for a 3-course meal.
Iced Long Black (Rm 10)
