Sincerely Crafted Cuisine @ Chow Thye Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Unlike any usual Vegetarian restaurant, Sincerely Crafted Cuisine seeks to defy how traditional vegetarian food is served- using some specially chosen ingredients to craft out some creative combinations that are uncommon to the market. Found at Chow Thye Road, the exterior of the place may not be as impressive as it seems but the interior is definitely eye-pleasing. It adopts the minimalist concept- offering a comfortable, well-lit dining space to its diners. The menu however, is rather small. The restaurant only offers Rice Bowls, available in 7 options... along with some sides. The beverage menu is relatively larger but the price points may raise some eyebrows. Despite the price points are slightly above the odds, we concur that the quality is of better than average and the flavor combination is unusual. Definitely worth checking out especially if you are on plant-based diet.

Japanese Curry (Rm 22)

Not Your Usual Nasi Lemak (Rm 25)

Aubergine Agebitashi (Rm 8)

Cold Okra with Truffle and Yuzu Dressing (Rm 12)

Nugmeg, Apple and Lime Keffir (Rm 16)

Pu Erh Tea (Rm 13 per pot)

We were told that Sincerely Crafted Cuisine uses Rice imported from Taiwan and true enough, they were delicious. The ones we had were Japanese Curry Rice Bowl and Nasi Lemak. The former one had Deep Fried Monkey Head Mushroom, Fried Lotus Roots, Fried Long Beans and Pickled Cabbage served over thick, rich Japanese Curry. The flavor combination was definitely unique but everything was perfectly cooked (from seasoning to the crunch of the vegetables). The latter one was probably one of the most expensive vegetarian Nasi Lemak I've seen and tasted but it was nicely done. The rice was beautifully cooked with a bold Coconut flavor, served with Deep Fried Turmeric Tofu, Okra, Peanuts, Sambal and Sunny Side Up. Though everything was nice, the combination did not quite surprise us as if it was a bowl of beyond average Nasi Lemak. The sides were equally good either, the flavor combinations were unique but definitely delicious. Our only complain was the small serving portion.
