Hachi Sushi @ Alma, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Hachi Sushi is one of the go-to places when it comes to Japanese food in the neighborhood of Alma (Bukit Mertajam), the restaurant at Pusat Perniagaan Seri Alma (next to Kim Hee Chinese Restaurant) has a spacious setting with big Sushi belt on running (temporary not available due to RMCO). It has a big menu- from various classic to creative Sushi to colorful Donburi, Ramen and Japanese delights. Apart from the casual, comfortably spacious setting, the very affordable price points seem to be one of its competitiveness. The prices seem to be on the lower end as compared to other established Japanese restaurants but the quality is not compromised. At least, we thought the quality justifies the prices.

Salmon Sushi (Rm 2.80)/ Ebiko Gunkan (Rm 2.80)/ Shiro Maguro (Rm 1.80)/ Mentai Salmon (Rm 3.80)/ Chuka Wakame Inari (Rm 2.80)/ Unagi Gunkan (Rm 3.80)

Miso Soup (Rm 1.80)

For starters, we had Miso Soup and Avocado Salmon Salad served with home-made Wafu sauce. Both did not disappoint, the former one registered the quintessential Miso flavor without being over-seasoned... importantly, it was served piping hot. The latter choice had thin slivers of Salmon Sashimi but not complaining given the price. We also had Zaru Soba served with Tempura, the former one was nothing out of the ordinary (normal Soba sauce) but the Tempura was slightly harder in texture... as not as crisp as we would have hoped. On the Sushi, they were pretty decent given the affordable price tags. The Sushi Rice did meet the expectation and overall, we were not disappointed.
