Tori Deli @ The Whiteaways Arcade, Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Replacing Twelve Cups at The Whiteaways Arcade, Beach Street is Tori Deli, a brand that offers Japanese-influenced delights. The brand is not new... it has a branch at Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam which specializes in offering Fried Chicken. The strategy seems to be slightly different for this outlet at Beach Street... the menu comprises of mains (mainly Ramen and Rice set) and a mix of Fried as well as barbecued Chicken. Prices are slightly on the expensive side, given the sub-par quality and serving portion. We were there on the soft-launch period and the operation was in a mess. Our orders were all over the place and they even billed us wrongly (we were overcharged for almost Rm 30).

Tori Miso Ramen- Chef's Recommendation Set (Rm 18.90)

Kimchi Ramen Set (Rm 20.90)

Nyonya Laksa Ramen Set (Rm 12)

Korean Fried Chicken (Rm 15.90/ large)

Tori Deli's Ramen noodle is basically something like Kolo Mee, curly but springy noodles... nothing similar to the smooth Japanese noodles. The same type of noodles will be used across all soup bases. The Tori Miso Ramen was light with a hint of Miso flavor, we were a little disappointed with the overly-mild Miso flavor, almost like clear soup but the saltiness was there (some of us thought the soup was salty). The same clear soup base was used for Kimchi Ramen, except topping it with a chunk of Kimchi. Other ingredients remain unchanged, the flavor combo and toppings were rather disappointing (perhaps we were expecting authentic Japanese Ramen in lieu of localized version). The Korean Fried Chicken was not too shabby except that the batter could be crispier though, the Chicken was tender and the seasoning was okay.

Thirst Tea (Rm 5) and Taste Tea (Rm 5)
