GDGN Vintage Cuisine 廣東姑娘 @ Bishop Street, Georgetown, Penang.

One of the many reasons why Malaysians love Hong Kong-styled Cha Chaan Teng is due to theirs eclectic yet extensive menu, featuring a wide range of classic and familiar delights. Joining the clamoring food scene is GDGN Vintage Cuisine 廣東姑娘, a new Hong Kong-styled Cha Chaan Teng-concept restaurant. The menu features the typical Cheese-baked rice, instant noodles, burgers, traditional Hong Kong eats and their signature Pork Lard noodles. Prices are of mid-range but the portion may be too small to justify for the prices. There are rooms for improvements but given that the visit was during the soft-launch period, let's hope the place will improve over time. GDGN Vintage Cuisine can be found opposite to Public Bank Bishop Street.

We had a few classic Hong Kong-styled dishes, starting from the Egg Tart and Curry Fish Balls. The Egg Tart's pastry puff was a little too thick to our liking while the inner egg filling was too thin, the proportion somewhat inappropriate whilst the Curry Fish Balls were a tad too salty to our liking. The Hong Kong Eggette was slightly burnt but the flavor was standard-average... though I would personally prefer Eggette Lab's at Gurney Plaza. Polo Bun was okay but it may be too dense for some, good as afternoon tea but may be too heavy if you are having a main and the Polo Bun. Our main dish of the day- Classic Lou Sui Noodles with Pork Lards was not shabby... chewy noodles tossed in Pork Lards and Lou Sui sauce, served with various toppings but the serving portion was way too small to fill our tummies. Forget about the Coconut Milk Sago... saccharine sweet and nothing overly exciting.
