DeHappy Seafood Restaurant 快乐海鲜 @ Macalister Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Occupying one of the most prominent spots along Macalister Road, DeHappy Seafood Restaurant 快乐海鲜 is often perceived as "the restaurant that caters for tourists"... mainly due to its location as well as its banner that says "Fresh Empurau Is Available". Like many, we were also taken aback but we were brought there by a chance. When we checked the menu, we were surprised that most of the dishes are reasonably priced- not exactly cheap but comparable to most seafood restaurants on Penang island. The menu is big and would fit for most occasions, especially family gatherings. Though the place has good ventilation, the lack of air-conditioners may not be a good thing for the heat-intolerant.

Grouper Fish Fillet with Soy Sauce (Rm 25/ small)

Stir Fried Egg with mock Shark's Fin (Rm 30/ medium)

Stir Fried Noodles with Seafood (Rm 30/ medium)

Fried Egg with Bitter Gourd (Rm 18/ medium)

Like most Chu Char places in Penang, both rice and noodle options are available. We were introduced to their Stir Fried Noodles with Seafood- Fried Vermicelli Noodles served in a starchy Soup gravy with loads of Seafood. The taste was as straight-forward as it gets... but better to go with their Sambal Belacan for the additional spicy kick. The Grouper Fish Fillet with Soy Sauce was probably a dish that better spooned over rice, the fish was on the salty side on its own. The meat was nevertheless firm and pleasant to the bite. Our favorite dish of the day was Stir Fried Egg with mock Shark's Fin... the Egg was nicely done with a firm and meaty texture, fresh Crab meat was also introduced to the dish for a touch of Seafood sweetness.
