Started out as a home-baker, the proprietor of Hi Barry Dessert Cafe thought the time is suitable for her to expand her business into a brick and mortar dessert cafe. The newly opened cafe can be found at The One Mahsuri (also known as One Sky), right opposite to the popular Ming Yuan Steamboat. With a proper baking place, the proprietor can now offers better range of pastries and cakes... with different choices being offered on a daily basis. Notable flavors include Taro Lotus Biscoff Cake, Burnt Cheese Cake, Black Sesame and Blueberry Short Cake, Hojicha Chiffon Cake etc. Prices may be slightly higher than some chain cake house, but the quality is assured. If you do enjoy a piece of decent, home-made cake, give this place a try.
Taro Lotus Biscoff (Rm 16)
Matcha Burnt Cheese Cake (Rm 16)
The Waffle and Sandwich menu was not available on our visit (during soft-opening stage) so we had 2 slices of their cakes- Taro Lotus Biscoff and Matcha Burnt Cheese Cake. The former option was basically sponge cake layered with Taro filling, fresh cream and finished with some Lotus Biscoff crumbs. The flavor-combo was delicious and it was reasonably sweetened, but the Taro filling was a little too scarce for the thick sponge. The ratio was somewhat inappropriate; as we dug in further, there was only sponge and fresh cream left, the Taro was no longer there. It would be better if they can introduce more Taro filling to make the Taro-element stronger to befit the theme. The latter choice was decent but credits should be given to the freshly whipped cream. The Matcha Burnt Cheese Cake was a little lighter than expected though the cheesy element was still there. When eaten with the whipped cream, the combo was amazing.
