Up your lunch game at The Black Market, one of the latest additions to Chow Thye Road. The cafe was previously at The Glass House of Hin Bus Depot but has since relocated to this new location. Its easy to miss the place as its quietly tucked at one of the houses near the junction to Chow Thye Road and Irrawaddy, with a small signage. The interior is simple and rustic... with some playful industrial-styled dining tables and chairs as well as a couple of cozy sofas. It offers a Western menu... featuring Pasta, Burgers, Pizzas and some meat dishes. Not bad for a quick fix but to be honest, we expected more from them.

One of their Chef's recommendations- Spaghetti with Beef Meatballs... home-made Beef Meatballs served atop of Tomato-based Spaghetti. The texture of the Meatballs was alright, though we thought they were a little over-seasoned; the Spaghetti on the other hand, could be more al-dente. For the meat dish, we had Rosemary Chicken Breast... beautifully cooked and tender. The sides however, could be better prepared... soft, mushy Fries and Salad greens served with Mayo; we thought they need to do better than that to win diners' hearts. For dessert, we were visually convinced by the Apple Fries and Ice Cream but the taste was quite the opposite. The Apple Fries were bland, we could barely taste the fruity Apple essence (muted) except Cinnamon and Sugar; the lack of Apple flavor was a let down.
