The new branch of Sushi House at Tropicana 218 Macalister is a new spot for a wide variety of inexpensive Sushi and Japanese delights. The Sushi chain has quite a few branches across the country but this particular one at Georgetown is the first branch in Penang. It does not have a Sushi conveyor belt but a bible-thick food menu. Diners must scan the code on the table to order and the orders usually come in a jiffy. Very affordable prices but do not expect top-notch quality for the prices you are paying. Visit if you are dining out on a budget but craving for Japanese food.
Cold Cha-Soba (Rm 10.80)
Agedashi Tofu (Rm 6.80)
Salmon Salad (Rm 13.80)
Chawanmushi (Rm 6.80)
Ebiko (Rm 2)/ Salmon Sushi (Rm 3.20)/ Shiro Maguro (Rm 3.20)/ Chuka Itako (Rm 2)/ Aburi Salmon Mentai (Rm 4.20)/ Aburi Kani Mayo (Rm 4.20)
Food items are typically inexpensive here... with most items priced less than Rm 20 and a plate of Sushi starts at Rm 2. But really... for the price, not the quality. The soy sauce dip for the Cold Cha-Soba was watered down and it was a tad too bland to our liking; the noodles were undercooked and were too hard to the bite. The Agedashi Tofu was disappointingly average either, the batter went off with a nudge of the chopsticks and the flavor was overall, bland. The only thing I could compliment was the texture of the Sushi Rice... which surprisingly alright.
