Middle Eastern cuisine is widely accepted and welcomed in Malaysia- healthy, bold and irresistible flavors but it is often too grueling to the wallet to indulge. Dandy Modern Food seizes this opportunity and brings flavors from the Mediterranean to Penang by offering delicious Mediterranean delights in an affordable price range. While some are authentically Mediterranean dishes, certain dishes have been modified to suit the local palate (esp on the heavy usage of Herbs). Having received great support from Penangites, the brand expanded its business operation and opened up a new branch at Queensbay Mall earlier this year. The same open-kitchen concept is used to impart a casual and comfortable dining atmosphere, allowing diners to witness the entire food preparation process. Both restaurants in Queensbay Mall and Arena Curve are Halal-certified; private functions and events can also be arranged at both locations.

The Dandy Lamb Rice is one of the signature dishes of Dandy Modern Food; many regular patrons would return just for this dish. It has got grilled Lamb served atop of smoky, aromatic long grain rice with a side of Tabbouleh Salad. The flavored rice with tender, well-marinated grilled Lamb is a combo that would satisfy the Asian in you. If you would prefer something lighter, the UFO Lamb Capsule is for you. It is one of the creative dishes rolled out by Dandy Modern Food- greens and Lamb dressed in light Mayonnaise sauce served using a deep fried pastry and topped with a Sunny Side Up... with a side of Hummus. The combination feels very refreshing but with a burst of flavors. The pastry skin adds an addictive, aromatic crunch to the dish.
For Western options, the Fire Roaster would suit for those who prefer their dish with a spicy kick. It has got a quarter Chicken served with 2 sides and sauces (in the picture- grilled roots Vegetables, roasted Potatoes and roasted Garlic Cream and Herb). The Golden Shrimp and Cheese Pizza is a safe choice though. The Pizza sees spiced Golden Shrimps, Pineapples, Mozarella Cheese, Basil and fresh Cherry Tomatoes. With all sauces and bread are made-in-house by Dandy Modern Food, this will put them to a good test. For the best Mediterranean experience, we'd recommend ending the meal with a good serving of Lebanese Coffee.
