Quan Zhou (QZ) Restaurant 泉洲小厨 along Sungai Pinang (next to Perodua Service Center) is a popular lunch place for many white collars, the place is around for quite some time. The place is most crowded during lunch hours and famous for churning out Hokkien-styled dishes. They do not have a big menu but everything served is cooked with years of experience. The prices however, are budget friendly and this definitely contributes to the reason as to why this place is never short of returning customers.

There are quite a few signature dishes in Quan Zhou, starting with the Prawn Fritters, Oysters Noodles, Stir Fried Glass Noodles to Oyster Omelette, Yam Duck etc. The Prawn Fritter was a show-stopper; crispy with juicy Prawn, the batter ratio was just perfectly done, it was simple but addictive. Yam Duck was delicious and comforting at the same time, we could still see the Yam there, slightly melted but the chunks were available. The Soup carried a nice Yam-my flavor and the Duck was carefully cooked to the right texture... fork-tender and easily fall apart at the nudge of the fork. There were 2 types of noodles- Oyster Noodles and Stir Fried Glass Noodles. We would prefer the latter choice for its bold Wok Hei with spot-on seasoning; the former option was great too but the texture was a little too mushy to our liking. If you could tell from the pictures, the portion was fairly large given the low rates. Expect longer wait time during lunch hours though.
