One of the most hidden Japanese restaurants in Penang- Enoshima can be found in Cititel Express, well-tucked in one of the lots along a narrow alley but the restaurant has been operating for years. It is also the only restaurant in the hotel. Though the place is not known to many, the menu is surprisingly large and features most Japanese delights. But the Bento menu seems to be far-more attractive and offers better value in return.

We had both Chicken Teriyaki Sushi Set and Enoshima Bento, one of the signature Bentos in Enoshima. The former one offers Sushi, together with Teriyaki Chicken. The standard Bento set comes with a serving of Miso Soup, Chawanmushi, Salad with Wafu dressing and fresh fruits. The Sushi barely hits the spot, the rice was over-vinegared and the fish was not as fresh as we would have hoped. The quality was less par as compared to established Japanese restaurants and more like those being offered in fast Japanese food eateries. The Chicken Teriyaki was fine but if and only if you prefer the crisp version, the meat was on the tougher side. The signature Enoshima Bento on the other hand, features Sushi Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki Chicken and Tempura... quality-wise, disappointingly average.
