The Ramen scene in Penang has elevated, with a great variety of options to choose from. This brand new spot at Arena Curve, Bayan Lepas (next to Olive Tree Hotel) serves Japanese Ramen with a modern touch. The menu does not only feature Japanese Ramen but a series of Japanese Rice Bowls, Tempura, Grills and light snacks. The interior decor does not feel very "Japanese" but more like a modern cafe instead. This is not the place for you if you are looking for authentic Japanese experience but if you are open to try out modern styled Japanese dishes, this place is worth a look.
Tonkotsu Char Siew Ramen (Rm 18.90)
Spicy Ramen (Rm 20.90)
Supreme Seafood Ramen (Rm 27.90)
Takoyaki Balls (Rm 6.90)
Michi Michi's Ramen comes with many choices, not only in terms of toppings but the Ramen flavors as well (like vegetable-infused Ramen). We had both Char Siew Ramen and Supreme Seafood Ramen, the former choice comes in a rich Pork broth with al-dente Ramen noodles topped with caramelized Char Siew while the latter option comes with spicy Pork broth topped with loads of Seafood (like Clams, Scallops and Prawns). It seems like they have been quite ungenerous with the broth. Though the meaty flavor was bold, it did not really hit us, as though something was missing. For certain Ramen, diners can choose the spicy level. We had Level 2 for the Supreme Seafood Ramen and did not feel it was spicy enough. The dish was disappointingly average.
