This new smoke house in town churns out beautifully brown smoked Chicken cooked over real wood. It's not common to find a smoke house that uses real wood to smoke its meat in Penang and this new kid on the block is one of a kind. Accordingly, the chickens are marinated for 24 hours and it takes more than 3 hours to smoke. The entire restaurant only offers a smoked chicken-focused menu... with some simple sides like Coleslaw, mashed Potatoes, Garlic Butter Rice and Garlic Bread. Not too shabby for a change though it did not sweep me off my feet; just a usual roast chicken with a discernible smokiness I reckon.
Whole Chicken (Rm 44.60)
Coleslaw (Rm 3.90)/ Mashed Potato (Rm 3.90)/ Garlic Butter Rice (Rm 3.90)
The smoked Chicken was fork-tender, little effort was necessary to tear the meat apart. The skin registered bold smokiness but the inner meat barely registered any flavor. We had to rely on its sweet barbecue sauce, which the combination went perfectly well with the Garlic Butter Rice. Save for the Garlic Butter Rice, the Coleslaw and mashed Potato were less-satisfying; the former choice lacked the crunch... as for the mashed, the essential creaminess was missing.
