A new addition to The Promenade at Bayan Baru, Manzoku is a casual dining spot that offers quick and simple meal. It gives us the impression that the place runs as a take-away kiosk... mainly due to its serving method- all foods are served using plastic take-away containers; good for those in rush of time or the office workers nearby but otherwise if dining in. It lacks the 'x-factor', as though we were having some take-away food in the restaurant. On the menu, it offers Burgers, Pasta and Donburi (Japanese Rice Bowl dish) in some classic choices but there are a few quirky ones as well. Prices are rather budget-friendly though...
Wafu Spaghetti (Rm 13)
Chawanmushi that comes with the Set
Make It A Set- Chawanmushi and Cold Beverage (top up Rm 5.50)
We tried the Wafu Spaghetti.... a Japanese-influenced Pasta dish, Manzoku's rendition comes with a bold buttery fragrance with little or none Umaminess. We could not detect a hint of Dashi stock in it or perhaps, overshadowed by the Butter. The smoky Bacon and earthy Shitake/Shimeiji Mushrooms were a nice touch to it but it really missed out the "Wafu" factor here. The accompanying Chawanmushi was delicious though, it has the silky-smooth eggy texture with reasonable flavors.
