Coffee Downstairs @ China Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Coffee Downstairs is definitely a cool spot for coffee and sweet treat lovers, the classics are available but they have a range of hipster coffee on offer... including Sour Vide Coffee or Nitro Black Kombucha or perhaps, some peculiar combination that you could hardly imagine. While it does serve some sweets (like Brownies and sweet Croissants), it does not serve any mains. While the confined space is rather comfortable and cozy, it does not accommodate large groups, there are only a few long tables and probably could seat less than 15 pax in total. Worth checking out if you game for some sweet treats over a playful cup of Joe.

75% Dark Chocolate Brownie (Rm 7)

Salted Egg Croissant (Rm 9)

Matcha Cold (Rm 15)

Both Chocolate Brownie and Salted Egg Croissant were equally delicious; the former one has a delightful bitterness following it... with a little crispy top and gooey-melted Chocolate sandwiching between, the contrast in texture highlighted the in-depth, multi-dimensional Chocolate flavor. The home-made Salted Egg Croissant, though not as crispy as we would have hoped, the Salted Egg filling was toothsome. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and salinity... with creamy-rich texture, not too overpowering or over-killing the flaky French pastry. We washed down with a cup of icy cold Matcha.
