Ho Bin (给面子) Cafe @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Ho Bin... certainly not a name or term that can be easily pronounced by non-local but never mind on the name; it's basically a noodle-focused shop that sells hand-made noodles... almost similar to Pan Mee but round, long and fat in shape instead of flat ones. The flavors offered are very locals-oriented, same goes to the toppings and sides. The dining hall is air-conditioned with comfortable seats... prices are wallet-friendly as expected, pretty much like the casual dining spot that you would go on a regular basis. Nothing spectacular and nothing extraordinary but nothing fancy or pretentious either, just a simple, straight-forward bowl of Noodles.

Handmade Noodles with Fish Ball Soup (Rm 6.50/ additional Rm 1.20 for extra noodles)

Spicy and Sour Handmade Noodles (Rm 8.90)

Deep Fried Won Ton (Rm 5.90)

Fish Ball Soup (Rm 5)

Peach Resin Tong Sui (Rm 5)

The noodles were not as bouncy as we would have hoped, but they were definitely silky smooth; the classic version was very much Pan Mee-alike... with minced Meat topping and garnished with a soft-boiled runny Egg. The Sour and Spicy version paled when in comparison, the flavor-combo did not work in my opinion. It lacked the "X factor" and we did not feel the excitement eating it. Overall, we thought this was an okay-average meal... while there was nothing at fault, it definitely has nothing to shout over either.
