WhatSaeb Thai Boat Noodles @ Carnavon Street, Georgetown, Penang.

WhatSaeb Thai Boat Noodles made its first debut in The Saw Emporium earlier this year, the Boat Noodle specialist is well-established in Klang Valley but has recently relocated to Penang. The new location can be found at Carnavon Street and the place offers an array of Thai delights; expect to see some authentic, robust Thai Noodles, Rice dishes and sides. Prices are standard-average but the serving portions are smaller than our expectations.... more like a place to taste the diversity (of flavors) than a place for filling meal.

Dry Chicken Thai Boat Noodles (Rm 13.80)

Shrimp Pad Thai (Rm 13.80)

Som Tum (Rm 10.80)

Giaw Tod Dumplings (Rm 8.80)

It's a must to try their signature Thai Boat Noodles... WhatSaeb's rendition comes with either Dry or Soup version.... served with a Chicken Drumstick, Meatballs and Herbs. The serving portion was pretty small and was no where near to a filling meal. The texture of the Noodles was alright but it was a little over-seasoned in our opinion. We needed to add a dash of Chili sauce to neutralizes the salinity.

The Shrimp Pad Thai on the other hand, fared better than the Boat Noodle in our opinion. The flavors were great and the texture was amazing. If there was one thing that we hope they could improve... it would be the Sugar served aside. Though it's a customary to serve Sugar with Pad Thai but this is definitely not the way we locals enjoy it. The star dish of the evening was Som Tum... addictively crunchy with robust flavors... spicy, sweet, salty and sour, all blended in a single dish.
