With an inviting, homey setting, Oppa Korean BBQ has quickly become one of the favorite casual dining spots in the neighborhood but the Korean restaurant is not new. It started off in Gurney Paragon Mall's food court but has since relocated to this present location near Hillside of Tanjung Bungah. Though the menu is not as extensive as other established Korean joints, the pricing appears to be more budget-friendly. The restaurant is manned by a Korean so the authenticity factor speaks for itself. Reasonably priced, comfortable dining environment; this could be one of the decent options to sate your Korean cravings without putting a dent on the wallet.
Ja Jang Myeon (Rm 18/ large)
Teokbokki (Rm 11.90)
Kimchi Jigae (Rm 11.90)
Kimbap (Rm 9.90)
The large Ja Jang Myeon was gigantic in portion... good enough for 2 pax; but the flavors did not shine. It appeared to be too thick to my liking, it lacked the 'X-factor'.... the je ne sais quoi element... I've had better ones. Tteokbokki was alright... though we wondered why the Rice Cakes seemed to be thinner than the usual ones but the flavors were spot-on, except that the customary Hard Boiled Egg was missing.
The Kimchi Jigae was a dish we enjoyed the most... served to us piping hot, it carried the perfect acidity and spiciness, perfect to wash down the Kimbap and Ja Jang Myeon. Any order of the Kimchi Jigae comes with a bowl of Steamed Rice.
