Talk about expensive Milk Tea or Taiwanese beverages, the newly opened Chloe Cafe has got to be one of the most expensive cafes in Penang to offer these beverages. It's customary to have a serving of Taiwanese Milk at slightly over Rm 10 but it's definitely uncommon to pay slightly more than double for that but cafe hoppers do pay the price for curiosity at Chloe Cafe. Apart from the quality, they pay for its comfortable, chic atmosphere. It has the modern, minimalist touch to it and it does not only offer beverages... the food menu has an interesting blend of Western-Asian delights... with some of their own twists. Prices are generally higher here, especially in the Butterworth neighborhood but given the food quality and exceptional dining atmosphere (comparing those in the same area), the place is worth a look.
Onsen Tamago Curry Udon (品锅药膳咖喱温泉蛋乌冬面/ Rm 18)
Brown Sugar Pearl Milk (黑糖珍珠鲜乳/ Rm 22)
Shocked with the price of the Brown Sugar Pearl Milk and so we asked for a reason and we were told that the "Pearls" were hand-made with good quality of Brown Sugar. We gave in and true enough, the quality was superior. Even the Milk carried a delightful creamy-buttery flavor; everything seemed to blend in well. But was it worth the price? Not for me personally.
On the food, the Onsen Tamago Curry Udon did manage to impress us in some way. It was Japanese Curry but oddly, some Chinese Herbs were added in... the seemingly peculiar combination worked. It made the Japanese Curry less-thicker, more to the soup texture in lieu of saucy thickness. The mock Chicken meat made of Monkey Head Mushroom was a nice addition to the otherwise, flat dish.
