Yin's Wholefood Manufactory @ Promenade, Bayan Baru, Penang.

Yin's Sourdough Bakery is not a new name in Penang, the bakeshop churns out mouth-watering Sourdough loaves every day but if you wish to savor Yin's secret recipes, the new Yin's Wholefood Manufactory is a good option. Housed in the new commercial building- Promenade at Bayan Baru, the sister restaurant to Yin's Sourdough Bakery is manned by the same people behind the bakery but offers a completely different menu. The health concern will be glad to know that most items on offer are home-made with most ingredients are sourced locally to ensure sustainability. The mix of heavy metal element and wooden structure exudes a relaxing but welcoming vibe. While the menu is not big, especially for breakfast; the newly opened restaurant is still improving on its menu and will be offering more once the operations are stabilized.

French Toast (Rm 18)

Breakfast Salad (Rm 16)

On a Saturday morning, we started with savory option- Breakfast Salad, a hearty serving of greens (with sauteed Mushrooms, Cucumber, Nuts and Granola), Chicken Sausage, home-made Tomato sauce and 2 slices of Sourdough Toasts. We love the Chicken Sausage, not only it was reasonably seasoned, the meaty texture was most satisfying as well. The Salad was interesting, especially with the introduction of nutty elements like Granola which somehow offered a different dimension to the greens... a touch of sweetness as well. The Toasts were good but can be better with a slab of Butter for the extra creaminess and salty essence.

The sweet tooth may go for French Toast, proudly made using Yin's Sourdough Bread... topped with caramelized Honeydew and Green Apples, Vanilla Ice Cream, Pomegranate and some Mint leaves, lightly drizzled with Honey. The toast was pillowy brimming with an eggy aroma but the use of Sourdough caused the after taste to be acidic. If I must choose, I would prefer Breakfast Salad.
