Truly a posh dining experience, the newly opened Stone Nine Hot Pot by Jiro Shabu redefines the classic way of enjoying Steamboat/ Hotpot. Not only does the place introduce personal pot, the interior decor strives to take your breath away. The restaurant covered in shades of wood exudes a sense of tranquility while the dining utensils promote elegance and sophistication. We did not expect the price points to be low, given the upscale interior decor. As expected, the price tags are hefty- expect to spend at least Rm 40-50 per person here, with the cheapest beverage (Green Tea) priced at Rm 5 (refillable). The dining experience however, is exclusive. Everyone gets to savor his/her own Hotpot and the ingredients are impressively fresh; at least... the prices are well-justified. Stone Nine Hot Pot by Jiro Shabu is right next to Citibank Malaysia, at Auto City, Bukit Mertajam.
New Zealand Beef Shabu Set For One (Rm 39.90)
Red Snapper Shabu Set For One (Rm 43.90)
Spicy Miso Soup Base (included in the set)
Tom Yum Soup Base (included in the set)
Choices are aplenty here and ala-carte orders may seem tempting but the wise ones would go for the Set Orders. Diners can opt to have personal Set or Set for 2, 4 or a group, soup bases are included (Rm 5 to 7 otherwise). We had the Spicy Miso Soup and Tom Yum, both did not shine. The former one was a tad salty to our liking while the latter choice struck us with a jolting sourness. We were rather disappointed with our choices. But fortunately, the Red Snapper (Red Snapper Set) and Beef (New Zealand Beef Set) were fresh and delicate. Though in small serving portion, the Red Snapper was toothsome but our favorite of the day was the New Zealand Beef. The thickness was perfect and the clean beefy taste spoke for itself. We love the freshness of the ingredients but we could not agree on the soup bases and with the high price points, we might drop by again but perhaps, on another occasion.
