No gimmicks needed here... just skills and flavors. De Sweet Love Cafe is one of the newly joined tenants at Lembah Permai (Permai Village), Tanjung Bungah; unlike those hipstery cafes in town, De Sweet Love Cafe takes on a different approach. The cafe is not hipstery decorated nor with elegant English setting but a cozy and comfortable setting indifferent to a cafe in the neighborhood. So what can one expect to see in such a cafe? Fresh, home-made pastries and cakes. Step in the cafe and you will be welcomed with a huge front counter that is cramped with myriad of home-made Cakes and pastries; no, not the usual flavors that you can see but expect to see some real exotic ones.
De Sweet Love Cafe's Afternoon Tea Promotion (Rm 16.90- a slice of Cake + Scone + Coffee/ Rm 14.90- a slice of Cake + Scone + Mocktail- Virgin Curry Leaf Mojito or Lemongrass Honey)
Speaking of Afternoon Tea, one would usually associate it with hefty price tags and elegant setting but if you are watching on a tight budget yet longing for an Afternoon Tea session (sans the sophisticated-classy English setting), do keep De Sweet Love Cafe in mind. Their Afternoon Tea promotion provides the most value, for a mere Rm 14.90 nett, you get yourself a glass of their Mocktail, a slice of home-made Cake and a piece of freshly baked Scone. The Scone was alright but the highlight should be the home-made Strawberry Jam... with delicate flavor and carefully sweetened. We unanimously agreed that the Afternoon Tea set exceeds the value for what we paid for.
Carrot Walnut Cake (Rm 8.90)
Black Sesame Chocolate (Rm 7.90)
Earl Grey Raspberry Cheese Cake (Rm 9.90)
Call it creative or playful but it was refreshing to see some Cakes of different and unique flavors than the conventional ones. Their creativity and courage are most commendable. Black Sesame Chocolate Cake was one of the more creative ones. There's a thin layer of Sesame jelly sandwiched in between layers of Sponge. To our surprise, the cake was not too chocolaty that the chocolate flavor overpowered the Sesame; it was moist, delicately sweeten and most toothsome. Carrot Walnut Cake was alright, though they were rather generous with the Walnuts, the Cream Cheese was a tad too artificial to our liking.
Earl Grey Raspberry Cheese Cake sure sounds frisky but some of us thought the Earl Grey and Raspberry combination did not work. Both elements were too bold and for once, we thought we were having a slice of cake with air freshener-infused.

Creme Brulee (Rm 8.80)
De Sweet Love Cafe is generous with their Creme Brulee, it certainly surprised us with that gigantic portion... what's more for a mere Rm 9.90? It was lightly caramelized and garnished with fresh Strawberries. We thought the caramelization was too weak and failed to introduce a delightful burnt aroma to the sweet treat. Never mind on that, the real draw of the dessert was the extremely creamy and milky concoction sheathed under the crackling layer of melted sugar. The milky element might be too strong for some but yours truly enjoyed every bit to the max. Some of us thought the texture was a tad mushy to their liking and true enough, it was akin to Flan in lieu of Creme Brulee but the milkiness and creaminess made it up. A perfect sweet treat to go with a cup of Joe.
